Are your processes and workflows prepared for Government contract life-cycyles?

In my contracting career, I worked my way up from fledgling contract specialist with the US Air Force. Eventually I became a Contracting Officer and later branched into corporate contracts. Everywhere I went, I was constantly frustrated by poor processes, workflows that were stuck in the early 2000s, and decision makers not seeming to care about putting their employees through painstaking tasks that were completely unnecessary.

You might think that the largest inefficiency was with the Government, but ironically it was corporate life that proved to be the most disastrous. Process workflows were extremely project manager centric, with everyone else made to feel as if they were working for them rather than for their actual supervisors. Unfortunately, this resulted in massive inefficiency as PM's tended to focus on getting work pushed out, rather than abiding by processes set in place.

There must be a balance between getting work accomplished on an effective schedule, while also ensuring contracts are found, won, executed, invoiced, and closed out in an efficient and effective manner. We would love to help evaluate and streamline your processes, and utilize effective software tools and automation to your companies benefit.

Lets go over some of the major categories:

  • Understanding the Contract Lifecycle

The first step towards better workflow management is to understand the federal contract lifecycle. From procurement and acquisition planning to contract administration and closeout, small businesses need to be familiar with each phase of the process. Our team can help businesses dissect each stage, providing guidance on best practices and identifying areas for improvement. By doing so, we can help small to medium-sized businesses (SMB) optimize their operations and better align their resources with government contract requirements.

  • Software Solutions

There is a wide array of software solutions designed specifically for government contract management. These platforms can simplify and automate tasks like contract tracking, compliance monitoring, and reporting. Many of the software suites can be integrated seamlessly with other software platforms to create a full software solution. Our team can recommend the most suitable solutions for your business based on your unique needs and budget. Implementing the right software can significantly reduce the manual labor involved in managing contracts, freeing up your team to focus on more strategic tasks.

  • Automation for Increased Efficiency

Automation is key to driving efficiency within the federal contracting space. It can help small businesses eliminate time-consuming manual processes, minimize errors, and improve the overall quality of their work. Our team can help identify areas within your contract management process that can be automated, such as invoicing, document generation, contract analysis, and tracking contract milestones. By implementing automation tools, your business can not only save time and resources but also increase accuracy and reduce the risk of non-compliance.

  • Harnessing the Power of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to revolutionize the way small businesses manage government contracts. AI-powered tools can assist in tasks such as analyzing contract data, identifying potential compliance issues, and even predicting the likelihood of contract success. Our team of experts can help you implement AI solutions that are tailored to your specific needs, ensuring that you stay ahead of the curve in the federal contracting space.

  • Training and Support

Perhaps the only obstacle in your way is a lack of understanding of government processes and requirements. The Federal Acquistion Regulations (FAR) and its numerous supplements (DFARS, AFARS, AFFARS, etc) can be daunting in the sheer scope and complexity of the regulations. In addition to real world experience on federal contracts, our team members have received hundreds of hours of training in the FAR/DFARS and are certified according to DAWIA and FAC-C standards, as well as through the National Contract Management Association (NCMA). Our goal through training and support is to empower your business to manage government contracts more efficiently and effectively, allowing you to focus on growing your company and fulfilling your mission.

Don't let the complexities of federal contracting hold your business back—reach out to us today to see how we can help you succeed in this challenging space.
